It was founded in 1939, by Alan Farnell and Arthur Woffenden in Leeds, England. It has since been listed on the London Stock Exchange and acquired by Avnet, in 2016. It has 38 locations across the EMEA and a presence in America, Asia, and Australia under the various subsidiaries.
